Interesting article. Erik Mesoy , Jun 22, I might have it but i also have Asperger, so it could most likely be Asperger rather then Love shyness. Reno , Jun 22, Well this is bound to get a lot of reads in a gaming themed forum I am not love-shy. Sure I get shy about a hot chick and sometimes I bottle it. More often than I would like. But sometimes I don't.
In general I don't feel sick about it and I certainly don't get distraught about it. Also, how can being a teenager be a symptom of an illness? Some of the others are questionably 'situations' rather than symptoms. Rambuchan , Jun 22, There are three of us Aspies in a row! To think that I have met so few, online or otherwise, and now three of us in a row!

Erik and Reno, maybe all three of us can chat sometime in a private room about how we cope with our difficulties. On topic, yes, I have love-shyness, but I think it is another manisfestation of my Asperger's Syndrome.

Of course, some people want to feel less shy so they can have more fun socializing and being themselves around others. Most naturally shy people can learn to manage their shyness so that it doesn't interfere with what they enjoy doing. They learn warm up to new people and situations. They develop their friendliness and confidence and get past shy feelings. But for a few people, shy feelings can be extreme and can seem hard to conquer. When shy feelings are this strong, they prevent a person from interacting, participating in class, and socializing.
Instead of warming up after a while, someone with extreme shyness has shy feelings that build into a powerful fear. This can cause a person to avoid social situations and hold back on trying new things or making new friends. Extreme shyness can make it uncomfortable — and seem impossible — to talk to classmates or teachers. Because extreme shyness can interfere with socializing, it can also affect a person's self-confidence and self-esteem.
Man with phobia of women
And it can prevent someone from taking advantage of opportunities or trying new things. Extreme feelings of shyness are often a sign of an anxiety condition called social phobia. People with social phobia often need the help of a therapist to overcome extreme shyness. Someone with social phobia — or extreme shyness — can overcome it! It takes time, patience, courage, and practice. But it's worth the hard work. The payoff is enjoying more friends, having more fun, and feeling more confident. We can't change our true inner nature and who would want to?
If you have a naturally shy style, or if shyness holds you back, you might have to work at developing a sense of ease around new people. This is the author's website. Brian G. His is the definitive and basically only scientifically based book on the subject of people who, due to psychological reasons, cannot have romantic relationships whatsoever. Studying adult virgins he found, rather than a variety of reasons for their involuntary situation, a single identifiable syndrome with standard causes and symptoms.
Based on shyness, love-shyness works specifically to keep romantic and sexual relationships from happening. In simplest terms, love-shyness is a phobia of romance and mating. Any romantic or prospective romantic situation induces such a high level of anxiety in the love-shy sufferer that almost any dating and sexual relationship proves impossible.
The more attractive and available the romantic interest, the greater the phobia. This anxiety so strongly dominates during the formative years that the love-shy child fails to learn and pick up on the human mating ritual. One cannot easily learn a subject one fears.
Love-shyness - Academic Kids
The knowledge and social skills related to romance and sex that a typical young adult intuitively grasps are absent in a similarly aged love-shy person. Thus, in addition to general shyness, loveshyness doubly curses romantically. Not only is such a person extremely nervous in social situations involving someone to whom he or she is attracted, he or she is usually clueless about what to do in such situations.
